About Xplore Wild Expedition

Our journey began long before the brand was born—rooted in a deep love for nature and an enduring passion for photography.

Growing up in the picturesque foothills of Ooty, my connection with the wild started at a young age. In the beginning, it was about capturing the beauty of nature through a mobile phone—sunsets, forests, and fleeting moments around my home. In 2018, along with two close friends who shared the same enthusiasm, we started a page called Xplore the Nilgiris, dedicated to showcasing the untouched beauty of our homeland.

That initiative sparked something deeper. I wanted to take it further and began searching for a camera. When my brother sent me a lens from abroad, I borrowed a camera body from a colleague and set out to experiment. I was excited to use a telephoto lens in the Nilgiris, only to realize it wasn’t ideal for capturing wide landscapes. That’s when I first understood how important the right lens is in telling nature’s story effectively.

At that time, I didn’t know much about lenses. I started with what I had—photographing butterflies and common birds around my home. My first butterfly shot posted on Instagram received unexpected appreciation. Encouraged, I kept learning and evolving. Back in Bangalore, I explored local spots like Agara Lake. I had seen a photo of a bee-eater before and was fascinated. On my first visit to the lake, I was lucky to see one up close. That magical encounter marked the beginning of my birding journey.

By 2019, what began as a hobby was turning into a passion. During the lockdown, I returned to my hometown and continued birding in the Nilgiris. Then came a life-changing moment—my first tiger sighting. That single encounter ignited a fire within me and marked the start of my deep love for wildlife photography.

Over time, this passion only grew stronger. I knew I wanted to create something meaningful—not just for myself, but for others who shared the same love for the wild. Though the Xplore the Nilgiris page became inactive as my friends moved on with their lives, the vision stayed alive in me. I decided to revive it in a new form—and that’s how Xplore Wild Expedition was born.

Today, Xplore Wild Expedition is more than just photography. It’s a community, a learning platform, and a gateway for people to experience and capture the wild in its raw, untamed beauty. Through guided expeditions, expert mentorship, and immersive jungle experiences, we help others explore, learn, and fall in love with the natural world—just like I did.
